30TH ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE TICKETING

30TH ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE TICKETING

PCCS BOOKS 30th CONFERENCE TICKETING INFORMATION

The team at PCCS Books has long been planning a celebration to mark our 30th anniversary. We particularly wanted to be able to celebrate this event in person. After the long time of enforced online events, we especially sensed a hunger for getting together physically, in the same space. It’s an even more important anniversary as we want this to be a commemoration of the life and work of Pete Sanders, one of our founders and a much-loved and admired figure in the counselling world, who died in February 2022.

However, in-person events are very expensive to host. Unlike online events, you need a venue, food and other refreshments, technology and technicians, travel and accommodation costs for staff and then, of course, the fees for speakers and their travel and accommodation costs too. Then there’s the questionable ethics of asking people to travel to the venue and the concomitant effects on the carbon-footprint, the cost to delegates in time and money, and finally, the costs to us, which we need the ticket prices to cover if at all possible.
People have become used to ‘pay what you can afford’ pricing for online events. We can’t afford to do that for an in-person event, without raising all the ticket prices. It will cost us in the region of £12,000 to host the event. The ticket prices were carefully calibrated to ensure we could offer as many low-cost tickets as possible while covering those costs. And then VAT has to be added on top.

We gave it a lot of thought and explored numerous ways of doing it, and this was the most egalitarian formula we could come up with to stand a chance of breaking even.  We will record the event and make it available for around £10.00 after the event, for those who cannot afford the ticket prices, miss out on the low-cost tickets or aren’t able to watch online on the day.

30 years of publishing and Pete Sanders’ legacy are truly something to celebrate with our readers. But we are very mindful of and regret that we can’t keep prices within the reach of all those who might like to join us. We hope to see many of you in May, in person or online.
